Step 1- Measure the dimensions

Start by measuring the length and width of the area where you plan to install the composite decking.

Step 2- Determine the Decking board widths

The composite prime decking boards we stock are XS and Dual you plan to use. The XS are 146mm wide and the Dual are 143mm wide

Step 3- Calculate the number of boards

Divide the total square metre of your deck by the widyth of the compoite decking boards. This will give you the apporximate number of boards needed for your project. Remember to account for any extra boards needed for cuts and waste.

Step 4- Accounts for joists and spacing

Please take into consideration the quantity of joists required to uphold your composite prime decking boards. The gap between joists usually varies from 16 inches to 24 inches, depending on the manufacturers' recommendations. To determine the number of joists needed, divide the length of your deck by the chosen spacing.

Step 5- Include Fascia Boards

To determine the required number of fascia boards for your deck, it is essential to measure the length of each side and calculate the total linear meters. This will assist in accurately estimating the quantity of fascia boards needed for installation around the perimeter of your deck.

Step 6- Add fasteners and accessories

Please ensure that you consider any supplementary materials, such as screws, clips, and other fasteners, that are necessary for the installation. Refer to the diagram provided below to get a general idea of the quantity required.

Example- Coverage calculation for HD deck 10 Sqm

filter_1   4mm clip + 146mm board width = 150mm total width coverage
filter_2   1000mm(1m) / 150mm = 6.66 boards
filter_3   10 sqm x 6.66 boards = 66.6 linear metres
filter_4   66.6 linear metres x 3.6m board length= 18.5 boards(round up to 19 boards)
